Research Assistant II
Duties
1. Plans, coordinates, and supervises assigned research projects, which may be limited as segment of larger project, exercising responsibility for project performance and accountability for progress; and/or personally performs advanced scientific and medical research work, suggesting modifications to, or improvements in, design of research projects, presenting original ideas for follow-up studies, and recommending utilization of new or revised techniques and procedures to obtain desired results.
2. Constructs, assembles, and operates experimental or other special designed laboratory apparatus and equipment.
3. Assembles and analyzes research data.
4. Assists in preparation of research material for reports or publication.
5. May supervise group of Research Technicians and/or Research Assistants of lower grade, making work assignments, advising on work procedures and reviewing work in process and upon completion.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
1. Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and
one (1) year experience as Research Assistant I or equivalent.
2. Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and
two (2) years experience to include one (1) year as Research
Assistant I or equivalent.
3. Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in
histology, serology, medical technology, etc. and five (5) years
experience to include one (1) year as Research Assistant I or
equivalent.
4. High school graduation with courses in basic sciences and seven
(7) years experience to include one (1) year as Research Assistant
I or equivalent.

Research Technician II

Requirements

Accountant III
Duties
1. Maintains internal accounting procedures, clerical operation, and workflow to maximize efficiency.
2. Advises management personnel relative to planning and revising budgets to ensure monies are expended correctly and no financial difficulties occur as result of inadequate planning or underestimates of projected expenses.
3. Prepares or coordinates preparation of monthly, quarterly, and/or annual financial reports, schedules for such financial reports, and other special reports as required.
4. Approves expense vouchers.
5. Verifies ledgers for correctness and maintenance of adequate balances and reconciles monthly and annual reports.
6. May supervise posting of entries to such ledgers as general, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Examines postings in ledgers and journals for accuracy and compliance with prescribed accounting procedures.
7. May determine work priorities for staff of lower level Accountants and/or Accounting Clerks
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business with minimum of twelve (12) hours in accounting and five (5) years progressively responsible experience in governmental and/or commercial accounting.

Senior Administrative Assistant
Duties
1. Relieves supervisor of variety of administrative duties, which involve thorough understanding of functions, programs, and policies of organization; may coordinate day-to-day operations of office; makes recommendations for changes to procedures.
2. Prepares or assists in preparation of grant applications, grant budgets, manuscripts, book chapters, etc; ensures proper format, grammar, and completeness.
3. Functions as liaison with other departments, including Human Resources, Telecommunications, Physical Plant, Purchasing, and Accounting; prepares on-line and paper documents as needed.
4. Completes and coordinates complex projects and reports as assigned by supervisor, which may require significant contact with other departments and outside organizations and use of various computer software applications.
5. Composes and/or types letters, memorandums, and other non-routine and moderately complex correspondence, which does not require attention of supervisor.
6. Maintains sub-ledgers and ledgers for various accounts, including reviewing expenditures and encumbrances, reconciling accounts, and ensuring appropriate use of funds.
7. Plans and coordinates projects, such as meetings, appointments, conferences, seminars, and workshops; arranges for meeting facilities, hotel accomodation, transportation, refreshments, luncheons, banquets, receptions, etc.; develops and arranges printing of brochures; handles finances for program, including determination of charge to sponsoring department; establishes registration fees; processes all vouchers relating to event.
8. Takes, transcribes, and distributes minutes for meetings.
9. May transcribe dictation of medical or scientific terminology; ensures correct format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Working knowledge of UT travel forms, policies and procedures preferred.
Duties include coordinating several departmental seminar series, handling travel arrangements for guests and department members, assisting with departmental events, and other duties as assigned.

Administrative Assistant
Duties
1. Relieves supervisor of various internal administrative duties, which require thorough understanding of, and adherence to functions, programs, and policies of unit and university. Reviews department policy manuals periodically to update and institute changes as necessary. May provide comprehensive administrative support to Chairman, Vice Chairman, Director, Department Manager, or other upper level administrator.
2. Monitors and maintains unit's budget; provides input to supervisor; prepares and submits various budgetary reports; assists supervisor with annual budget process. May have delegated approval authority for all dollar level expenditures for designated entity; coordinates process for items requiring Chair level approval, and/or has delegated approval authority over these items.
3. Coordinates supervisor's schedule; makes travel arrangements; plans meeting itineraries, etc. for supervisor or outside visitors.
4. Coordinates details of faculty and staff recruitment for division. As directed by supervisor or unit head, initiates personnel action documents, including appointment, termination, and/or salary/title changes. Coordinates appointment process for foreign nationals.
5. Pre-screens staff applicants; coordinates interview process for supervisor and/or unit head. Conducts department/division orientation for administrative and technical staff and training of administrative staff.
6. Coordinates scheduling and use of department/divisional facilities and assets, including making arrangements for moves and/or renovations, maintaining accurate space records, recommending and/or approving purchase of equipment and furniture, and maintaining inventory files.
7. Approves vacation and sick leave transactions; interprets V/SL policies for unit's personnel.
8. Prepares or coordinates preparation of complex reports requiring significant contact with other departments and outside organizations.
9. Provides professional support for special projects, which may include editorial and administrative support for manuscripts and abstracts for publication; prepares material for oral and/or written presentations; coordinates and prepares materials for courses, meetings, and conferences; performs Library and Internet research. May provide assistance in preparing grants and contracts, which may include assistance with budget preparation and/or oversight.
10. Maintains sub-ledgers and ledgers for various accounts, including reviewing expenditures and encumbrances, reconciling accounts, and ensuring appropriate use of funds.
11. May provide working supervision for staff of lower rank.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school graduation or GED and four (4) years related
experience. Testing may be required.
